Online, Hybrid, and Inclusive Teaching
• Designed and taught face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses in studio art, art appreciation, art history, design, and interdisciplinary arts.
• Developed and maintained online course content for FIAR 1001, FIAR 1003, and FIAR 1551; remained directly responsible for each course overall while dividing the grading workload with academic partners, each grading an assigned share of students. Responded directly to students and provided task reminders and coordination.
• 2019 — Received LSU Online Course Certification and Approval for FIAR 1001 Introduction to Fine Art in a seven-week format.
• 2022–2023 — Participated in LSUA’s Spero Program, supporting students with intellectual and developmental disabilities in ceramics, painting, and drawing alongside regularly enrolled students through structured demonstrations, repeated instruction, guided note-taking, individualized feedback, and peer interaction.
Student Mentorship, High-Impact Learning, and Professional Preparation
I extend studio learning beyond the classroom through field-based courses, museum and arts-center partnerships, and juried-exhibition experience, giving students sustained contact with working artists, cultural institutions, and public audiences.
• Designed and taught the approved high-impact experiential-learning course Southern Pottery Throw Down: An Exploration of Southern and Louisiana Pottery in the Studio and on Location, integrating Newcomb Ceramics, Shearwater Pottery, George Ohr, and Southern face-jug traditions through direct study, studio production, research, criticism, reflective writing, and travel to New Orleans, Ocean Springs, and Biloxi.
• Mentored students in portfolio development, artwork documentation, digital-image preparation, artist statements, websites, exhibitions, graduate-school applications, recommendation letters, interviews, teacher-certification pathways, and career exploration.
• Mentored LSUA alumna Alex Chambley in MFA preparation; she entered the MFA in Painting program at the University of Texas at San Antonio with full funding and an additional scholarship.
• Mentored and supported Megan Hale and Gavin Bridges with program research, portfolio and website feedback, artist statements, application materials, and recommendation letters; both were accepted to the MFA in Painting program at Jacksonville University.
• Supported alumni Angela Brown-Walker and Andrew Farhand in pathways toward careers in art education and public education.
• Mentored Gabby Chapman and Bethany Lambing in artist statements, portfolios, and slide lectures for Scholar Day and Creative Day at LSUA; both students graduated.
• Prepared students for the annual LSUA Student Art Exhibition at the Alexandria Museum of Art through documentation, digital-file preparation, labels, matting, framing, delivery, and professional presentation.
• 2025 — Facilitated student participation in the Black History Month Art Exhibition, Avoyelles Arts Council Gallery on the Square, Marksville, Louisiana; prepared, matted, delivered, and retrieved work and attended the opening with participating students.
• 2021–2025 — Facilitated student participation each year in the annual Art, Jazz and Jambalaya Regional Artists Exhibition, Centennial Cultural Arts Center, Olla, Louisiana; coordinated preparation, matting, transportation, and retrieval of student work.
• 2026 — Served as driver, chaperone, and logistics coordinator for students attending the 41st Alabama Clay Conference, Huntsville, Alabama, providing four days of direct supervision, conference support, and mentorship.
• Guiding students through observational strategies and rapid compositional planning ahead of the Quick Paint Competitive Event, Farm to Forest Plein Air Festival.
